When you make your will after you have provided for your loved ones you may wish to consider including a legacy for your church
A legacy is a gift left in a person’s will to provide support for an individual or an organisation after the person’s death. It can be a specific amount or a portion of the assets at the time of death.
Giving a legacy to your church is an expression of your gratitude and thanksgiving towards God for all that you have been given and enjoyed during your life. It is also a means of ensuring that your past can become part of the future of your church’s life, through mission and ministry to all God’s people.
You can specify the legacy is for general church funds or to be used for a specific purpose like fabric repairs or youth work.
If you already have a will it is important to ensure that it is kept up to date. A new will can be made at anytime and a charitable legacy can be added easily by your legal advisor. Home made wills can be fraught with problems and could cause difficulty with settling your estate therefore it is best to obtain professional advice for this.
If you wish to include one of the team churches in your will their correct name must be shown to avoid any confusion with settling your estate, these are:
St Andrew’s Church Redruth
St Andrew’s Church Pencoys
St Stephen’s Church Teleigh
St Euny Church Redruth
If you have any questions about this please speak to one of the clergy or the Treasurer of your church.
